Mohini Ekadashi is named after Lord Vishnu's most enchanting avatar — Mohini, the divine enchantress. This is the only female avatar of Lord Vishnu, who appeared during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the ocean) to distribute the nectar of immortality.

📖 The Story of Mohini Ekadashi
The Surya Purana narrates the story of a merchant named Dhanapala who lived in Bhadravati. Despite his wealth, he was tormented by the sinful acts of his son Dhrishtabuddhi, who had squandered the family fortune on gambling and immoral activities.
Expelled from his home, Dhrishtabuddhi wandered in the forest, starving and repentant. He came across a sage's ashram on the day of Mohini Ekadashi and, unknowingly, observed the fast due to his circumstances.
💫 The accidental observance of Mohini Ekadashi purified all his sins. Lord Vishnu, pleased by this, appeared and blessed him. Dhrishtabuddhi became a changed man, reconciled with his father, and eventually attained moksha.
