🕊️ Significance of Yogini Ekadashi

Yogini Ekadashi is one of the most spiritually significant Ekadashis, named after the divine female yogis (Yoginis). It carries profound power to:

  • Remove fear of death — grants courage and acceptance
  • Ensure peaceful afterlife — protects the soul's journey
  • Prevent untimely death — divine protection from accidents
  • Free from Yamadoots — messengers of death cannot trouble

🙏 Special Timing: Yogini Ekadashi is the last Ekadashi before Chaturmas begins (the four holy months when Lord Vishnu sleeps). It's an ideal time to accumulate spiritual merit before this sacred period.

📖 The Story of Yogini Ekadashi

The Brahma Vaivarta Purana narrates the story of a gardener named Hemamali who served King Kubera, the lord of wealth, in the celestial city of Alakapuri.

Hemamali's duty was to collect flowers daily for King Kubera's puja of Lord Shiva. However, Hemamali was deeply attached to his beautiful wife, Visalakshi. One day, he became so engrossed with her that he forgot to bring the flowers.

Furious, Kubera cursed Hemamali to become a leper and live on Earth, separated from his beloved wife forever.

The suffering Hemamali wandered through forests until he met the great sage Markandeya, who advised him to observe Yogini Ekadashi with complete devotion.

✨ Hemamali observed Yogini Ekadashi faithfully. By its divine power, his leprosy was cured, his sins were forgiven, and he was restored to his celestial position — reunited with his beloved Visalakshi.
